humble explorations

I wanted to offer this insight I have been sitting with regarding relationships and humility.

During the new Moon in Libra and the start of Scorpio season, the new moon had many themes attached, but the two that stuck out to me were: greater harmony in relationships and embracing the unknown/darkness with curiosity.

In a recent conversation I had with my mentor/boss/colleague, she told me a short story about what happens when two mountain goats meet on the edge of the mountain. She mentioned she literally saw this take place in Portugal a few years ago.

If you don’t know what happens, it sounds like a sight to see! And I imagine there are of course exceptions to this rule.

Short version: In order for the mountain goat that is climbing up to continue its journey and the mountain goat climbing down to continue, one has to yield. They don’t fight which is typically what we have been taught by Darwin and “associates.” The wise mountain goat climbing down, appears to bow down to the one climbing up, and allows for that goat to climb over it to continue its ascent. The value of descent to ascend!

This image warms my heart and I wanted to share it because we often get a different depiction of how nature functions: constant warring and competition. We see this plenty in our own human world as well. But I have been thinking a lot about what happens when we shift more of our attention on a regular basis to love, joy, connection, and forgiveness?

What happens when we choose humility and say we don’t know all or let me let this person go ahead of me I am in no hurry?

What happens when we focus on being in right relationship rather than being right?

Being in right relationship is a dance. A dance at times that feels precarious such as how do I get down or up from this mountain without falling and without harming someone else in the process? Most of the time our greatest moments of growth come from being humbled and choosing the simple path. The simple path is usually one that is considering we are in relationship with all things, not just ourselves. That might sound paradoxical, but consider those mountain goats. What is easier? To yield for a moment or keep moving no matter what?

During these continued celestial and earth shifts I am calling forth harmony, beauty, right relationship, and balance of what we know and what we don’t know! May your end of year journeys be filled with a depth of connection that serves your heart with powerful mutual understanding, transformation, and love.
